HATHA YOGA TEACHER TRAINING - SONIA SUMAR METHOD (200 HOURS)

We are excited to announce that in 2023, we will be offering a one-of-a-kind Hatha Teacher Training experience. This comprehensive program will take place over the course of a year, with monthly online sessions held on Saturdays, followed by a rejuvenating week-long in-person retreat in either the USA or Europe- all tailored to your preference. To ensure optimal learning and growth, we kindly request our students to attend one yoga class each week. You may choose to participate in the live sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays with Sonia Sumar or access our online library at specialyoga.com. We warmly invite you to join us for this exceptional program.

Sonia Sumar and Renata Sumar Gaertner teach this comprehensive 4 week training program.  Upon completion of weeks 1-4, participants will have earned 200 HR RYT certification.  
When program is in 4 weeks format: 
Week 1 Program information: 

Participants will start each day by deepening their own Yoga practice with a Meditation and Hatha Yoga Class led by Sonia Sumar, Renata Gaertner or other certified yoga instructor assisting during the program.  Course work begins daily after breakfast and covers the Six Branches of Yoga, Surya Namaskar and it’s mantras, the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali,  asana choreography, Pranayama, Slokas and how to teach Hatha Yoga to adults.  


Week 2 Program Information:

Participants will start each day by deepening their own Yoga practice with a Meditation and Hatha Yoga Class led by Sonia Sumar, Renata Gaertner or other certified yoga instructor assisting during the program.  Course work begins daily after breakfast and covers Asana choreography, Surya Namaskar, the Six Branches of Yoga, the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, Kirtans, Slokas and Yoganidra, teaching Yoga classes and choosing a path to become a Yoga teacher, how to adjust students appropriately, study of Yoga Philosophy and deepening meditation through Mantras. 

Week 3 Program Information:

Participants will start each day by deepening their own Yoga practice with a Meditation and Hatha Yoga Class led by Sonia Sumar, Renata Gaertner or other certified Yoga instructor assisting during the program.  Course work begins daily after breakfast and covers advanced pranayama, Bija mantras and meditation, how to lead kirtans, Anatomy and physiology of Yoga, introduction of Yoga and pregnancy. Asana choreography, how to teach Sarvangaasana and Sirshaasana safely, different types of deep relaxation, the Yoga Sutras and the power of finding a personal Mantra.  

Week 4 Program Information:

Participants will start each day by deepening their own Yoga practice with a Meditation and Hatha Yoga Class led by Sonia Sumar, Renata Gaertner or other certified yoga instructor assisting during the program.  Course work begins daily after breakfast and covers the Bhagavad Gita by Sri Swami Satchidananda, understanding Puja, Asana choreography, thesis presentation by participants, testing for certification and graduation ceremonies.              

Each one week program begins Monday morning at 7:00 am with one hour lunch and ends at 5pm, with an hour or one hour of half of lunch depending on which week. 


It is important to understand the medical contraindications to certain asanas, so please do not try to copy our work without proper instruction.

Course Pre-requisite: Yoga for the Special Child 95H Certification Program Part 1.

Who Should Attend: 
This course is open to Yoga therapists, instructors, and students, health care practitioners, and families of special children who have completed our Yoga for the Special Child® Part 1 Program.
