Yoga for All Abilities® 95H Certification Program - Part 1

​

Course Description:

Yoga for All Abilities®, LLC is multi-level comprehensive program of yoga techniques designed to enhance the natural development of children with additional needs. Our style of yoga is gentle and beneficial - safe for babies and children with Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Microcephaly, Autism and other developmental disabilities. These methods also provide an effective treatment for children diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder, ADHD and Learning Disabilities. The Part 1 comprehensive training program is a 48 hour course which provides the essential tools for working with children ages 0 to 12 with additional needs. Using hands-on instruction, the Program Teacher guides program participants through each stage of the child’s development. Topics include how to evaluate infants and children, how to design an early intervention yoga program to assure the healthy formative development of infants, toddlers and children, and how to work with specific syndromes and disorders.

Yoga for All Abilities® Continuing Education on Arthritis & Scleroderma

 

Course Description:

Yoga for All Abilities®, LLC is a comprehensive program of yoga techniques that is gentle, beneficial and safe. This 18 hour course focuses on children and adults with Arthritis and/or Scleroderma. Included are:
*An integrated series of balanced Yoga poses to increase body awareness, flexibility, strength, gross motor coordination and balance.
*Specialized breathing exercises and relaxation techniques to improve concentration, circulation, digestion, and to provide relief from the stress of living with a chronic condition.
*Specialized yoga techniques called bandhas and kriyas to relieve the digestive symptoms of Scleroderma, improving health and quality of life.
*Specialized yoga techniques called mudras to provide improved flexibility, range of motion and strength for the hands, as well as relief for the symptoms of Raynaud’s phenomenon.
*Provide opportunity for hands-on practice with Volunteers with Arthritis and Scleroderma, followed by feedback and guidance.

Course Name:

Yoga for All Abilities® Continuing Education on Cerebral Palsy and Down Syndrome

​

Course Description: Yoga for All Abilities®, LLC is a comprehensive program of yoga techniques designed to enhance the natural development of children with additional needs. Our style of yoga is gentle and beneficial - safe for babies and children with Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Attention Deficit Disorder, ADHD and Learning Disabilities. This 18-hour course focuses on the methods learned in the Yoga for All Abilities® Basic 1 Program with demonstrations and discussions of Yoga therapy for children of any age with Cerebral Palsy or Down Syndrome. Participants will start each day by deepening their own Yoga practice with a Meditation and Hatha Yoga Class led by the Program Teacher. Day 1 and 2 include four hands on training sessions with children with Down Syndrome and/or Cerebral Palsy, Day 3 has 2 hands on training sessions. Each class ends with a group discussion and question and answer period about the techniques demonstrated and designing an appropriate yoga routine for each child.

Yoga for All Abilities®, LL is multi-level comprehensive program of yoga techniques designed to enhance the natural development of children with additional needs. Our style of yoga is gentle and beneficial - safe for babies and children with Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Microcephaly, Autism and other developmental disabilities. Sonia Sumar teaches this comprehensive continuing education course in the theory and practice of Yoga therapy for children of any age with ADHD or Autism.  Pre-requisite: Yoga for All Abilities 95H Part 1

Yoga for All Abilities® Continuing Education on Early Intervention and Yoga

​

Continuing education course on how to apply the Yoga for All Abilities® - Sonia Sumar Method to babies with additional needs but also further deepening of the participant's own yoga practice.The training will include yoga sadhana ( practice ) in the morning followed by lectures and discussions, and demonstrations of how to apply Yoga for All Abilities® as early intervention for babies with additional needs.

Yoga for All Abilities® Continuing Education on Raja Yoga and Meditation

​

Discover more about the roots of Yoga in this new course which includes daily Hatha Yoga practice with mantra, pranayama, meditation and (everyone’s favorite) yoganidra. Extra sessions of pranayama and meditation midday will explore different positions and techniques to establish your best practice. Participants will study the 8 limbs of Yoga, the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali and how to apply their teachings to their own practice.

Yoga for All Abilities® Continuing Education on Teaching Asanas:  Adjustments and Sequences

​

The course includes daily Hatha Yoga practice with mantra, pranayama, meditation and (everyone’s favorite) yoganidra. Participants will practice creating asana sequences that will accommodate mixed levels of students. Participants will learn how to apply their knowledge and the principles of anatomy and physiology. Learn ways to practice safe and effective virtual and hands on adjustments and the ethics of doing so appropriately. Pre-requisite: Yoga for All Abilities 95H Part 1

Yoga for All Abilities® Continuing Education on Asanas:  Adjustments and Sequences

​

Renata Sumar Gaertner teaches you to go deeper in your practice and also help your students to understand how to perform yoga poses safely and progress in their practice. You will improve your understanding on how to safely adjust yourself and your student(s) in a yoga pose and how to build sequences to help you to connect deeper within.

Yoga for All Abilities® Continuing Education on the Philosophical Aspects of Yoga

Participants will learn the different Yoga schools of thought, the definition and study of the six Darsana, the study of Samkhya, Mimansa, Vedanta and the Four Vedas. The training includes daily Hatha Yoga practice with mantra, pranayama, meditation and (everyone’s favorite) yoganidra. Prerequisite: Yoga for All Abilities 95H Part 1

Yoga for All Abilities® Continuing Education on Trauma, Sensory Processing and Working with Limited Language

 

Cheryl Albright, OTR/L, teaches this new Continuing Education program developed in collaboration with Sonia Sumar and Renata Sumar Gaertner to discuss the research behind Yoga for All Abilities - The Sonia Sumar Method.  The course

explains how the method is integrated in the medical model, case studies and research in trauma, sensory processing, and limited verbal language.  A complete yoga practice is included in two of the days, and each day ends with a deep relaxation or meditation so the learners can better absorb the newly learned skills and knowledge.
