About the event

CEREBRAL PALSY AND DOWN SYNDROME (18H)

Renata Sumar Gaertner teaches this comprehensive continuing education course on the theory and practice of yoga techniques for babies and children with cerebral palsy or Down syndrome. Understanding the medical contraindications of specific asanas and breathing techniques is essential, so please do not try to copy our work without proper instruction. Program Information:

Participants will start each day by deepening their yoga practice with a meditation and Hatha Yoga Class led by Sonia Sumar or another certified yoga instructor who will assist Sonia during the program. Four hands-on training sessions with children with Down Syndrome and/or Cerebral Palsy follow.  Each class ends with a group discussion and question and answer period about the techniques learned, the appropriate yoga routine for each child, and which stage the child is in.

This three-day program runs from 06 pm to 09 pm ( Friday) and Saturday and Sunday (Hybrid) from 08 am to 5 pm.

We will be working with children (any age) who have Down Syndrome or Cerebral Palsy. Please get in touch with the program coordinator if you have a child or a client who would like to participate in our Program as a Demonstration. Renata will be working with 3 children per day: one in the morning and two in the afternoon. We appreciate your help in bringing demos in, as they are the highlights of our Programs.

Course Pre-requisite: Yoga for All Abilities 95H Certification Program Part 1.

Who Should Attend: This course is open to Yoga therapists, instructors, students, health care practitioners, and families of children who have completed our Yoga for All Abilities 95H Certification Program Part 1. Understanding the medical contraindications of specific asanas and breathing techniques is essential, so please do not try to copy our work without proper instruction.
