About the event
Join us for a new Continuing Education program on September 22nd-24th, 2023. This online course will take place on Friday from 02:00 to 05:00 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday from 08:00 a.m. to 01:00 p.m. and 02:00 p.m. to 05:00 p.m. The course, which lasts for 18 hours, focuses on trauma, sensory processing, and working with limited language. Our senior licensed practitioner, Cheryl Albright, developed the program in collaboration with Sonia Sumar and Renata Sumar Gaertner. We will discuss the research behind the Sonia Sumar Method of Yoga for the Special Child.
This course is open to Yoga therapists, instructors and students, healthcare practitioners, and families of children with special needs. It is essential to understand the medical contraindications of certain asanas and breathing techniques, so please do not try to copy our work without proper instruction.
During the three-day training, we will explain how the method is integrated into the medical model, present case studies, and share research related to sensory processing, trauma, and limited verbal language. We will practice on two of the days. Each day will end with a deep relaxation or meditation session so participants can better absorb the newly learned skills and gained knowledge. Don't miss this intensive and dynamic opportunity to expand your knowledge and skills.
