Irene Gallagher began her journey into the world of yoga in 2009 after coming back to Taiwan from Seattle. She witnessed the profound impact of yoga on children, which ignited her passion for it. She started her specialized training with the "Yoga for the Special Child - The Sonia Sumar Method" and in 2012, she earned her RYT 200 with Sivananda Yoga. In 2013, she became a Registered Children’s Yoga Teacher with Yoga for Special Child.
Irene's commitment to inclusivity led her to found "Aditi Yoga Studio" in Taipei in 2013, which offers a sanctuary for individuals of all ages and abilities. She also volunteers every Sunday since 2015 at St. Anne's Home, where she serves orphans with special needs.
In 2017, Irene became the Yoga for Special Child program coordinator in Taiwan, expanding her impact. She's passionate about expanding the reach of yoga's healing benefits and became a Yoga for Scleroderma Teacher in 2018. Her advocacy efforts resulted in training Yoga for Scleroderma teachers in Taiwan, empowering individuals like Yi-Rong, who faced Scleroderma with resilience. Irene also launched the Mandarin-language podcast "Have you Yoga today?" to extend her outreach. The podcast shares personal stories of how yoga, combined with Irene's unique approach of incorporating essential oils, positively impacts lives.
In 2020, Irene earned her Level One certificate from the National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy (NAHA). She incorporates this newfound knowledge into her work with people of all abilities, sharing the benefits of yoga with participants, caretakers, and does workshops to bring yoga life into everyday life. She creates a multi-sensory experience to increase their physical and mental health.
At the beginning of the pandemic, Irene adapted seamlessly to changing circumstances by transitioning from live programs to innovative online and hybrid formats. Her dedication ensured the continuity and accessibility of yoga for all, regardless of physical location.
